Day 3: Full Day Excursion to Agra

Early this morning, you’ll board the speedy Shatabdi Express Train and travel through the colorful countryside to Agra. Arrive in time for breakfast at the Trident Hotel and an excursion to the perfectly-preserved, red sandstone ‘ghost town’ of Fatehpur Sikri. Built in the 16th century, the ‘ruins’ of this abandoned city are still in pristine condition, making it easy to imagine the opulence of long-ago court life. In the afternoon, you’ll tour the incomparable Taj Mahal, built in the 17th century by Emperor Shah Jahan as an everlasting tribute to his beloved wife. Continue through the bustling city streets to visit the impressive Agra Fort, a hilltop citadel with fabulous courtyards, royal pavilions and fountains.
